Which route is right for you?
CITB: 50% match funding
CITB Employer Networks offer 50% match funding for eligible training for registered employers with 1–249 employees. Employers must be up to date with their levy requirements. Course approval and available funding must be confirmed through the Employer Network.
For 2026–27, the annual employer caps are £1,500 for 1–9 employees, £2,000 for 10–49 and £4,500 for 50–249. Different contributions apply to health and safety courses; employers with 250+ employees have a separate funding route.

The King’s Trust
Development Awards can help eligible young people aged 16–30 with costs connected to training, learning or starting work.
Ask The King’s Trust whether your chosen plastering course can be supported. They will assess your circumstances and confirm any award.

Jobcentre & employment advisers
If you have a work coach or employment adviser, ask whether they can help with training that supports your return to work. Take a course quotation and explain the skills you want to develop.
Any support must be agreed by your adviser. Receiving benefits does not automatically make our courses free.
Employers, charities & referral partners
Already supported by an employer, housing association, youth organisation or charity? Ask your contact whether they can sponsor your place.
We welcome enquiries about individual referrals and small-group training, and can provide course information and quotations.

Your funding questions
Can I get a completely free course?
Some applicants may receive support covering the full fee, while others receive a contribution. Only the funder can confirm your award. We do not promise free places before approval.
Can I book first and claim the money back?
Do not assume a funder will reimburse a course you have already paid for. Check their rules and obtain approval before booking.
Is the CITB funding a discount at checkout?
No. The Employer Network must confirm the training and funding arrangements. Contact us and your CITB adviser before making an online payment.
Does funding mean the course includes an NVQ?
No. Funding and qualifications are separate. Check the exact course description and ask us to confirm any qualification or assessment included before applying.
What if I cannot get funding?
You can book and pay for a course yourself, ask an employer about sponsorship, or explore our Course Savings Plan. The savings plan lets you build your balance over time; it is not a grant and does not reserve a course date until the full balance is paid and an available date is selected.
